Camp of 4, Iowa, Cav Helena, ark, March 20th, 63 Dear. Father and. Mother I this beautiful morning seat my self to write you a few lines. I will say in the first place that we ar all able to be about I hav been complaining for afew days but nothing cerious the matter Asahel started this morning on a 4 days scout The health in the Co, is very good at this time We hav as fine weather as I ever saw any wher warm drye and pleasant the beach trees ar leaving out and evry thing looks lovly the soldiers appear to be in better spirits The news come yesterday that they wer fighting some where down the pass, they sent up for ten Sergents I havent heard the petickulars of there fighting I think the time is near at hand when there will be aheavy battle fought at Vixburgh and a battle that will hav agreadele to do in setling this war We heard yesterday that old Hindman was out here in Ark so they sent a prity heavy scout out to day it is reported in in the Southern papers that we havent got but two thousand troops in Arkansaw if they expect to take this place they had better
