L J last night for fear of an atack but now we think they will not try it soon we think we can hold it it is a pretty strong hold this is a healhy place and not very hot we was nearly froze on the cars last night we was drove in the cattle cars like a passel of hogs but we can stand anything now we are all well that is here we left John Vannatta at St Louis he has the tyfoid fever he is not very low but is out of heart the home guards of st louis treated us to lager beer one of our Company got tight and he thought he was poisened and thought he was going to die but he is all right this morning it is a good Joke on the lager. nothing more at present but remains yours Direct Pilots Knob Mo 7th reg.
