Well John I am in hopes that we wil leave here soon our uniform was orded to be maid Some time ago and I think that our [arms?] is nearly all Ready for us as soon as we go to Saint louis I woud Be glad to get away from hee soon as possibl I think that we wil go down on river som place near you N B. Anderson Duke is in our Co and all of the boys has got a peke at him one of the boys in our mess swairs that he wil [mall?] him he Duke Blamed him for Stealing a Skillet from the mess that he belongs to thar is [five?] and [twenty?] [?] [?]^ messes in our Co Duke and Sam Palmer wer Cooking for one mess and Evry time that thar was a meal got Duke woud go around all of the messes and see if any of the boys had stolen any pans or skilets well John I hav said Enough on th Skilet subject so I wil have to Qut writing and go to supper Nothing more at present But Remain [S?] your sinse friend [?] David [Deadon?] to John L McDowell writ soon as Covenient Give my best Respects to all of the Boys [?] [?] one to you all
