861609 november [9?]/61 Washington Iowa Well John I have set myself down to scratch you a fiew lines to let you know what we ar about we ar all well at preasant and hope that when you find these fiew lines you will bee enjoying the same blessing we heard that you was in a fight and that Capt Crab was kiled but i hope that is not so Crawford got here to day he had a [leter?] for mart but he hadent yours and jimys likenesses tines is kind of dry here now there has been three spelling schools
