St Louis July 21st 1864 Dear Mother I write you these few lines to let you know that I am well and getting [?] first rate and [?] these few lines [?] find you in [?] health mother I feel contented since [my?] visit home to [?] I did [?] before as i [had?] expected to go down [the?] river and I was [determined?] to go up before I [?] the south there [?] lot of the men sent to their regiments yesterday from here but I dont think there will much rise for soldiers by next [?] as rebel dom will [?]
