Wood Hill Ala Thursday March 24th /64 Dear father, Yours of the 15th I received this afternoon. I am sorry that Mother is sick but I trust it will not be any thing serious and I hope she will be in the enjoyment of good health when these few lines come to hand there has been been any thing latley to disturb the dull monotony of camp life every thing is quiet at present though we dont know how long it may last as for my self I would be perfectly willing that it would last the Ballance of our time with us as I think our corps has done its share and some others take it turn in the front. well the weather here has not been very pleasant last two days day before yesterday morning it commenced snowing about day break and continued untill afternoon when it ceased and turned to hailing the snow was thirteen (13) inches deep on a level what do you think of that here in alabama but those of us that was not on duty did not mind it as we were comfortable in our quarters or tents each having a chimly to it only (here some were to lazy to build one)
