Saving...
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 1864. Reveille at daylight - Slept on two rails covered with brambles, with nothing but my Horse blanket - and enjoyed my sleep much - Returned to Camp about noon - after which had a pleasant sleep. Received a letter from D. Watson THURSDAY 11 (Written diagonally:-) Ordinary Camp Routine of duties - Reveille Dinner. Retreat & Tattoo Roll Calls - also two Stable Calls to be attended by the Commissioned officers and two W-Calls FRIDAY 12 Nothing unusual Except that Jno. D. Voris & Thos Martin went beyond the Picket without Permission and Voris was killed and Martin Returned to Camp Minus every thing his Horse being wounded. Buried him in a Citizens Graveyard after night - expected it to be Moon light - but it Rained Smartly
