TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 1864. Moved out about 8 O'Clock and my squadron was detailed for Picket where we remained all day. nothing to eat but fresh Pork and Green Corn horses fare finely- Rained a hard Shower about noon - Lt.McGaughy is not a pleasant officer to be associated with as he complains if his Co. does it full share of duty and throws the government of his Co. on the squadron Commander but I can get along with him for the time being, My Co. has complained or Murmured heretofore considerably about not having enough of Hard Bread but since it has become actually scarce - Murmuring has ceased for fear of having nothing [?
