Dec. 21st../63 Dear Friend, James, I now take the oppertunity of writting a few lines to you in answer to your welcom letter which I received several days ago but we have been out to Layfeette three days we came back last evening I was glad to hear that you had been home and had had such a good time of it I would have liked to have been with you first rate Jim if you come by Memphis I think you can take time to come out and see me it is only 24 miles you can get transporttation from the
