FRIDAY, MAY 1, 1863. Marched 3 miles to the landing and crost the River on the Gun Boat Pitsburg with the purpose of marching on Grand Gulf (Vertically, at right:-) Battle of Port Gibson SATURDAY 2 Entered Port Gibson the Enimy having left the previous night we marched to black river in the direction of Vicksburg Got a letter from E. A. & E. Shearer SUNDAY 3 Crossed little Black river in persuit of the Rebels - had considerable skirmishing during the day - 17th not engaged
