1865 Continued 16th Easter Sunday company inspection at 9 oclock A.M. regt. inspt at 10 A.M. rumor of the surrender of Johnsons to gen Sherman gen Lees surrender confirmed. 17th one hundred guns are being fired in honor of the Surrender of Lee and his army 18th Layed in camp all day 19th was Sargent of the brigade guard regt. received orders to be ready to march at a moments by way of water orders for gen inspection next morning. 20th Left Bleakely on board of the Steamboat Col Cowles at 5 oclock P.M. came to Mobile and anchored rumor of the assassination of the President of the U.S. and Secretary Seward. 21st Disembarked at 4 oclock A.M. marched about 2 miles to the rebble works and camped came back to the boats and embarked again
