1865 Continued 13th struck tents at 12 M. and marched to the landing and embarked on the steamer John Rice run to the bars and got aground and had to wait for a flow of the tide to get off. 14th got off of the bars at 8 oclock. A.M. passed out of the mout of the Bay at 2 oclock. P.M. verry smooth sea and nice sailing Storm during the night Thunder Lightning wind and rain verry dark. heavy sea verry boisterous. 15th run all day tolerable heavy swells vessle rocked considerable made made moste of the boys sick. 16th came in sight of Galveston in the afternoon anchored off the at .6. P.M. awaiting orders to run in to land
