after the works are carried we advance [illegible] to Grany Whites Pike & camp for the night about 5 or 6 miles from Nashville 10th saw a great many prisoners coming back we march out in Granys Pike about 5 miles come to a stream which was swollen by the rain so we had to bridge it just as we get the bridge ready for crossing orders came to go onto camp, here we remain for the night the rebs are said to be running hotly pursued by our cavalry & colored troops 18th in the morning we march across [to?] the Franklin Pike (about 1 mile) & [illegible] rations then march to within a mile of Franklin & camp the weather ever since the 12th has been rainy, the casualties in our regt on the 15th & 16th were 8 wounded & one killed
