I am told they are a very hardy race & sometimes go all the winter long without wearing gloves. they are however not good farmers; they strike me as a much superior race to the French in the old country they do not gesticulate so much or jabber so fast but still they gesticulate rather more than the English, & are I should say rather more excitable. August 2nd left at 7 A.M. for steamer for the Seguenay excursion. this steamer was comfortable a saloon above deck from the stern up to where the forecastle generally begins with us. State rooms below along the sides aft. gentleman's cabin
