You can rely on what they say at the Hotels as to their ordinary run of duties & their information about times of leaving &c. will be correct though they wont explain why they leave at particular times. The Adirondack's Mts. are near here where there is woodcock & deershooting in abundance. 17th To Ticonderoga by steamer 4 miles stage to Lake George stopped at Caldwell very fine situation, cool, & fine hills. 18th at Caldwell Fort William Henry & Fort Ticonderoga were the scenes of fights between the French & English about a century ago
