before Woolf took Quebec they were both built by the French & it is pleasant to hear American talk of them being taken in fights between the English & Americans v. the French. One peculiarity of Lake George is that it is fed directly by springs no water running down into it. 19th by stage (16 m.) to Moreau thence rail to Saratoga, on the way at one station there was a Methodist camp meeting going on so we got out to see it & went on the next train. These are kind of revival meetings they are held once a year for a week in the forest, this was close to the Rr. depot.
