Cleveland is a flourishing place but it is impossible to conceive a more dismal dull looking place than this is. the huge gaunt building of dark brick & the dismal dark look of the little houses round them & the dull dark looking stores with some of the goods hanging outside & some inside & nothing to relieve the eye, these blocks of houses each with their windows open & not a creature seeming to be in them no white blinds all dull & dark, Gehabt Haben. Buffalo was much the same only larger. 31st Left Cleveland at 6 A.M. arrived at Chicago (via Clestline) at 10 P.M. 354 miles fare about 10$ through
