H'd Qrs 7" Iowa Vet Inft Savannah Ga. Jany 5" 1865 My dear Wife as three cents is rather heavy postage for a small paper I concluded to enclose a fiew lines to you. but as I wrote you a long letter on the 3d.. this one will be short, for want of news. my health is as good as usual with the Exception of the toothache which has been troubling me for a fiew days. my toe is almost well, I have had a hard time with it the nall is quite defective and I presume always will be so. I have to split my shoe over the toe and then I am sometimes quite lame with it. Dr..Skinner called to see me this afternoon I had almost forgotten him he seamd glad to see me and to talk about old times the Dr.. is Assistant Surgeon of the 10th..Iowa Inft. It is Just one year to day Since I was musterd into the U.S. Service, it has been a short year to me.
