Mar 25" 65 My dear wife I have only time this morning to write you a fiew lines, we arrived here last evening at dark and are quite busy to day gitting our Camp in a Comfortable Condition, General Sherman has issued his Congratulatory Order in which he sayes we will have a short season of rest preparatory to Embarking on new and untried dangers So I suppose we will remain here for a fiew weeks at least, I wrote you on the 13" at Fayetteville which I presume you have received by this time since then the Army has had a hard time of it we have been on short rations and many of the men are barefoot General Sherman encountered the Combine forces of Bragg Hardee Johnson & FitzHugh Lee, on the
