H'd. Qrs 7" Iowa V. V. Inft Morrisville N.C. April 19" 1865. My dear Wife, I have Just Recd.. your Kinde letter of the 4th.. It found me Enjoying my usual good health. was quite unwell when I wrote you last from Goldsboro, but I believe that I have entierly recovered. and now feel quite like my selfe againe. was compelled to ride in an ambulance for three days during our March from Goldsboro to this place was too weak to walk, am now as strong and feel as well as ever. I am glad to hear of your continued good health, and hope that before this reaches you Mary will have entierly recovered. We are all feeling good over the glorious news, our Army moved from Goldsboro on the 10th.. and on the aftern[oon] of the 12th.. we Recd.. the news of Lees Surrender.
