H'd.. Qrs 7th.. Iowa V.V.I. Camp near Alexandria, Virginia Sunday May 21st.. 1865 My dear Wife You will see by the Heading of this that we are once more in Camp. our Corps the rear of Shermans Army arrived here yesterday, after quite a Hard March from Raleigh N.C. we are now in Camp on the Potomac in sight of Washington Alexandia Georgetown & Arlington Hights. the Army of the Potomac are to pass in review on next Tuesday the 23d.. & The Army of the Tenn on Wednesday the 24th.. inst. our Corps are then to move Camp to Georgetown Hights D.C. where we will probably fix up for a short rest. the review is to take place in Washington I will then have a Chance to see the White House. & will if possible Visit Mt Vernon before leaving Camp here. Our march from Richmond to this place was the hardest that we have ever made the men are all very tired
