Mrs. Stewart S. Foster Route 2, Box 69 Hamburg, Iowa July 18th 1865 Asahel Mann I received your letter of June the 15th some time since which was the first we heard from you since you left memphis I should have written sooner but Mary Jane was verry sick atthe time and I waited to see how it would terminate She has been sick for two months part of the time verry sick but has re covered so that she Can walk about hur room the rest of the family are all well and all anxious to see you Come home, in regard to your Comeing home and going to work on the farme I will say that thair is agood Chance to make Money I have the farme in good repair I have got 160 Acres fenst for pasture I rented this year to A man by the Name of Baty from Missourie I have agood stock of Horses Cattle & Hogs I have six good Brood Marrs and have bred them all to Payns Big Jack I am trying to keep my young stock till you Come home which I wih you Could doe be fore Cold wether as it will bee imposible for me to see to it throught the winter I think that the best thing that you Can doe if you Can not get Discharged is to Resign if you
