to do the work for which they left their homes, to wit, Crush out the rebbelion and return to their homes and friends here we have laid in Camp four months while our officers have been sporting and speculating on high saleary, and untill Corruption and self interest is driven from the army the war will not Close I am sorry to say it - but I Candadly beleive there are men to day holding high positions in the army, that would rather see the Goverment fall than their own political desings. God grant how soon such men may be removed & if it be by rebble bullets it is not all gold that gliters - neither are all Patriots that have enlisted in the army but I must Close, tell Florence I have got hers and Cledes picture tell her to be a good Girl your obedient son Wm Mann
