by the side of my dear brother it looks very hard to see our friends buried so far from home in a strange country but it matters not to a good and brave soldier whether he is buried at home or on the battle field. if I should get killed I would prefer being buried on the field where I fought. our company is very small now. and the mess that Milt and I belonged to is entirely broken up. two wer killed one died of disease. another is sick and one is detailed as Clerk to Headquarters. Milt and I are the only two that is left. Oh, how lonely it looks a bout those vacant bunks yet we can hardly So wish them back in this world of sorrow and trouble. they are now free from the hard duty a soldier has to perform they wer good and faithful soldiers, how I wish this war would end I am afraid the news of Johns death will almost kill my poor
