into the quarters and was caught up by "Old Sow" who ran into the ditch with his prize before he knew whether it was a shell or shot The duel was the most interesting we have seen, Nearly half our shots passed through the enemys embrasures or clipped the sides. When a gunner on either side made a good shot he was cheered by his own men, and frequently was applauded by both sides. Two batteries were engaged on each side. (Vertically at left:-) The musketry was silent while the artillery was at work.
