Battle of firing was quite brisk and boys who were out say that several hundred were killed and wounded on our side, They seem to be fighting for a stream of water, which we need badly Nearly famishing for water - Have to carry it 2 & 3 miles Several men were killed by the enemy while hunting water, 1 P.M. Firing renewed between the artillery some two miles in front We lay still till four then were ordered off on quick time a mile and 3/4, in front Double quicked in line of battle, while the batteries 300 yds in front kept up sharp firing a number of men have been kiled the 2nd Missouri was badly cut up charging a battery
