Made a march of 6 1/2 miles and are now 8 miles from Columbia. Camped in a wood on a hill near a mill-pond, The men are growing tired of burning dwellings. C 17th. Got ready to move at 6 AM, but did not move until 11. Our B just behind the large corps train and was until 4 PM going to the (Saluda) river (2 miles) Passed the 20 Corps train on the south side. Found the S- river much larger than we had anticipated, it being 50 yds wide 6 miles above Columbia. We cannot see why our corps is breaking off to the left of B__ but it is said C__ was evacuated last night Two loads of amunition lost in the river
