D [Two lines of code] Monticello boasted a Seminery and near 30 young ladies remained [Line & a half of code] This is a clay country and not a bit of level country to be seen. It is up one hill and down another all day long. The road is arched over with cedars, and the view from the tops of the immense hills is grand, It is a very rich country. Fine houses and land well improved The weather is the mildest and most pleasant we ever enjoyed, A little too hot perhaps at noon, but taken all in all we could not
