Helen Grundman Prescott, Iowa. trees it was an experiment and father said, It added just another row of trees even if they never bore fruit. We also have a plum thicket, this is planted north and east of the chicken house. The first few years after bearing age, had plenty of plums but the thicket is so dense now, it is no good for fruit. But a lovely place for chickens for shade and also a protection from crows as crows do not light in the thicket. This grove has furnished us in firewood, just the waste, such as dead trees and branches. My father has cut over two hundred posts, willow and mulberries from our grove.
