233 Marion, Iowa Nov. 3-1913. The Cary Club met with Mrs Phelps, Monday afternoon. In the absence of the Secretary, Mrs. Winter was appointed Sec. pro tem. Eight members responded to roll call, after which current events were given. The proposition of having the public library open on Sunday afternoons was then brought before the Club for discussion. A motion was made, and carried that the Carey Club take its turn at the work if undertaken by the Clubs of the City, and the Federation delegate was so instructed to express the attitude of the Cary Club. The program for Guest Day was discussed. The Program Com. had previously conferred with Mrs. Geo. Wilson of Cedar Rapids in regard to giving a talk on Woman's Suffrage on Guest Day and a favorable replay had been received. A motion was made by Mrs Griffith that each member invite two guests. TThe motion was carried. Mrs Alexander and Mrs Pyle were appointed a Com. on refreshments and Mrs Phelps and Mrs Griffiths a Com. on musical program for the day. After conclusion of the business Mrs Griffith gave a very interesting paper on the Hawaiian Islands In the absence of Mrs Cook her work was also given by Mrs Griffith. The Club then adjourned to meet with Mrs Cross on Nov. 17th Mrs J. J. Ives Mrs W. S. Winter President Sec. Pro Tem
