XX The first was answered by the chair in the simple, though deep, phrase: "Exact justice." In answer to the second, the sec'y endeavored to salve the problem by the inquiry "How can the greatest duty interfere with any other duties?" The majority of the society seemed to think it -- free suffrage for women -- would interfere with her other duties, especially if political work like electioneering, were taken up. But the sec'y protested saying that she thought that women would have nothing to do with political methods heretofore in vogue, but would invent a new method which would not only save time but mental and moral strength as well.
