Water Sponge Cake (E.R) Beat together the yolks of 4 eggs 2 cups sugar, & the juice & grated rind of 1 lemon. Dissolve 1/2 teaspoonful soda in 1/2 cup water & add, the whites of 4 eggs; 2 cups flour, into which 1 teaspoonful cream tartar has been mixed. 1 Yolks, sugar, lemon - 2 water, soda 3 Whites 4 Flour - cream tartar. Sponge Cake. 12 eggs, their weight in sugar, weight of half in flour --
