Dried Apple Fruit Cake Soak 3 cupfuls dried apples over night in enough water to cover them - Chop them in the morning. Add 3 cups molasses. [Stew] till almost soft. Add a cupful raisins, [Stew?] few moments. When cold add 3 cupfuls flour, 1 cupful butter, 3 eggs, 1 teaspoonful soda. Bake in a steady oven. [2 panfuls?] cake. [Babies?] Ginger Snaps. Boil all together 2 cups brown sugar 2 " cook. molasses 1 " shortening 1 tablespoonful [Ginger] 1 " ground [cinnamon] 1 teaspoonful cloves. Remove from fire. Let cool. Sift 4 cups flour. [Int?] some of it [illegible] [illegible] [dissolve?] a teaspoonful soda in a [tablespoonful?] water & beat into it. Stir in enough flour to make stiff. Roll into [big rolls?] & cut off into round cakes Cheap Fruit Cake. One cup of butter, one-half cup of molasses, two eggs, one cup of sugar, three cups of flour, one tablespoonful each of cloves and cinnamon, a little nutmeg, one teaspoonful of soda and fruit to taste.
