Balt. Jan 5th 1872 My dear Sophie, Yesterday's mail brought to my delighted eyes your letter. You see how prompt I endeavour to be in answering it -- The more so, as I shall be out of town for a very short time, and do not want to keep you waiting for a reply. It would be a terrible trial for you not to receive another from me this week (?) Wouldn't it? You must be prepared, at all events for this infliction. Seriously dear Sophie, I will write just as often as I can, twice a week, if you will too. Only here, must stop to beg pardon for incoherence, and all other deficiencies,
