Camphor Mixture Prepared by Dr. Parish of Philadelphia, and used in cases of Diarrhea Cholera &c. in 1832. Pour boiling water on Camphor well powdered; it will absorb only a certain quantity of water. Of this Camphor water take 3 oz. -- and of lavender compound 1 oz -- and of loaf sugar 1/2 lb. Mix them well and shake the vial before using it. Take one tablespoonful once every hour. If the pain be severe add to each dose 30 drops of laudanum, and combine the laudanum with each dose until the pain abates. When the pain abates cease the use of the laudanum and continue the Julep alone -- one tablespoonful every hour, until the diarrhea is completely stopped Any Druggist will pulverize the camphor.
