To make sear cloth Take a pint of sweet oyl half a pound of red lead boyl the oyl and the lead together tell it be black and when dropt upon the back of a pewter spoon it will come of clear when cold it must be constantly stired both when over the fire and tell it be near cold then add an ounce of bees wax sliced and an ounce of rosin powdered then let it have a boyl altogether still stiring it tell it be all desolved stir it tell it be pretty cool Butter an earthen pott which must be filled with cold water pour it in and work it very well with your hands like butter make
