Vernon he would give out in marching along he would sit down & rest he was to corpulent to travel, the last that I knew of him was when we where marching through Decatur Alabama in the night about 10 o'clock he was sent on the boat to Chattanooga, Hospt. very Sick witt the Diarrheoa & that is the last that I ever heard from him he was not reduce any flesh at all. If you or any of our folks see Jesse Vernon you can tell him what I have said, I fear it is to true that they are dead, J.
