224 Arch St, Phila Jan 13th 67 Sister Ellen: You will excuse me for writing two letters to your one, having a little spare time, thought would spend it thus pleasantly in writing to you. The weather is cold today, everybody is in a hurry, last light it snowed very fast but only for a short time. Ellen had some company last evenning which was very nice, I only missed one and that was yourself. They were as called here select company, sang, played piano, &c, then Ellen treated (not w whiskey) to peaches (canned) and cakes in fact it was a very pleasant affair. Ellen, is the Grove backsliding that balls are getting somewhat fashionable, I see that my presence is needed in the Grove again, for the minds of some of the inhabitants must
