To make a Mustard Poultice (strong) 1 tablespoonful of Mustard. 1 teaspoonful flour mix with boiling hot vinegar. This Poultice must not be put next the skin but be put in a piece of coarse muslin For a Carbuncle or Boil Get 2 small wooden bowls (price 2 each/, have a saucepan of boiling water on the fire, put the Bowls in. have ready a piece of flannel folded 2 or 3 times double, cut a place out in the centre the size of the wound. Lay the flannel on the skin leaving the Carbuncle in the centre. Take one of the boiling Bowls out of the Saucepan (it will be dry in an instant) pop it on the swelling over the the flannel and the concentration of heat from the steaming bowl will draw the Boil wonderfully
