46 nutmeg - Fry them very nicely with a little Butter and strew grated Sugar over them - put them upon an [illegible] turned down in another dish - Ginger Bread Loaf - Mrs. Cary 1 Lib of Treacle 1 1/3 Ounce of Carroway Seeds, do of Coriander half a pound of Butter half a pound of coarse Sugar - half a pound of flour - 4 eggs 2 table- - spoonfuls of yeast the size of a nutmeg of Potash well worked, The Butter worked to a Cream and the Eggs well Beat - the Ingredients mixed by degrees - Mock Ginger - - - - by ditto Take some Melons pare and cut them into narrow thinnish pieces about an Inch long put them into fresh water and allow them to remain 8 days - changing the water daily - then put in a little pounded Allum amongst the water and let it stay 2 days longer then take the same weight of Sugar as if [illegible] - Clarify it put in the Melons with as much Essence of Ginger as will flavor them Strongly boil
