Mrs Fairey's Cakes 1 lb of Flour 3/4 Sifted Sugar, 1/2 Butter softened not melted, 3 Eggs and sufficient Milk to make it up (about 6 dessert spoonsfull) and 1 dessert spoonfull of baking powder Oct 3 67 Receipt for Baking Powder 6 oz of Carbonate of Soda, 4 oz of Tartaric Acid, 2 oz of Sifted Sugar (lump) 2 oz Salt - Mix all well together and keep it in a dry place & well corked. Oct 3 67 W Allard Esqr's Receipt for Miss M W D One ounce of Senna Leaves - 1/4 of an ounce of Carraway Seeds powder, boil 20 minutes in a pint of water. After it is boiled let it stand for 3 or 4 hours and then strain if off and bottle it. Jany 25th 1868
