Spiced Pears 3 1/2 lbs pears 1 3/4 " sugar 1 qt vinegar 1 tablespoon each of cinnamon, cloves alspice & 1/2 teaspoon of ginger. Make a syrup of vinegar & sugar & boil fruit until tender then let stand and cook very slowly one hour. If vinegar is very sharp weaken it with water.
