August 16th was very busy this morning about the house wrok. Mother was out in the potato []pach I was just washing some in the stove fro dinner when I a heard such great talk looked out of the window seen some body comming along with Mother talking. I quiets lose the kitchen door, to finish the potato washing, when mother opened the door and said this is the presbysterian preacher, he arise d came fro to shake hands but mine was all whet I wiped them b/c he takened it in good faith is very straight in his manner mother got the larg rocking chair out asked him to take it but he said it is only for old folks. when I came around to sweap he was setting in the road [vok] him. f he would pleas occupy this chair he did so at dinner mr. Hasty came after me where done asked him to set up in cleaning off the things there were two large potato shells which I taken along away he looked odd - after a little Mr. Mrs Ellie & Grant Ellis came down could not get her fro to come in becaus she had such old dress on. She did though we all walked out in the graden after dinner mr Kellogg after the seat fro he & W will whent to look at Billy came withe garden Cooked
