Saturday Aug 21st Went with Linn down town in the morning & played 2 games of croquet at Mr Hosfords & then came home & worked Made some floating island in the afternoon, we like it so much. My receipt is " Seperate three eggs, beat the yolks with 5 teaspoonsfull sugar put in a pinch of salt & almost a quart of milk & then put it in a pail & set it in a kettle with 2 dippers full of boiling water. 1 1/2 teaspoons corn starch dissolved in the rest of the milk put in when it is almost boiling. Stir often. Flavor when done, & beat the whites with 1 spoon pulverized sugar & put on while hot". Played croquet an hour in the afternoon & all the evening. Sunday Aug. 22. Did not go to church today. Nothing remarkable happened.
