awoke in the morning expecting a jolly time. But no, the rain fell & there were no signs of clearing up. All Thursday we stayed there & this morning we came home. We enjoyed our visit very much in spite of the weather. We always have a good time there. I have been making a raid on all the old, out of the way boxes & drawers & am pretty tired. Saturday Apr. 15. May is going to stay all night with Ella Knowlton & so Beth is going to stay with me. I am reading " Oldtown folks" by H. B. Stowe & Beth & I are reading "Christie Johnstone" by Chas. Reade. I like them both very well. Have finished "Marmiou" & dont think it as good as The Lady of the Lake." A very pleasant day, a little
