I did not go to school in the afternoon. I went down town at about 5 P M. & purchased a new veil, some canvas to make Mamma's toilet set on, (it is for her birthday, the 6th of May) & some blue tarleton to line my school hat. I am going to have an old hat trimmed over for school for if we go east to the Centennial & Grandma's it will cost so much that we do not want to spend much for hats & such things this spring. Stayed over to Meg's about an hour & put Gracie to bed in the evening. Saturday Apr.29th. A week ago today when we went for flowers they said they were going to day at 9 A. M. It rained last night & was cloudy this morning but after consulting for an hour we determined to go, rain or no rain - There were 8 of us; [viz?]. , Meg, Beth, Laurie, B. W. Hervey, C. Ham, G.
