To cure Bots in Horses Take a quarter of an Ounce of red-precipitate of Mercury Mix it with three ounces of hogs lard or unsalted Butter and give the whole for one dose Let him not drink cold water for that day but warm it alittle Another for the same That is for Bots Take a Table spoonfull of unslated lime and let it be given with water or the feed which the horse takes Morning and Evening regularly for three or four days and will effectially destroy them Another For the Bots Take one Gill of [illegible] soap Two Gills of vinegar Two table spoonfulls of blue dye (out of a common dye Tub which farmers generally keep in their house) put it into a Phial and keep it perfectly still untill you are ready to give it to the horse pour it down at once This is a certain cure if the worms have eaten through the [illegible] Bots Another Take sweet milk and molasses 1 quart Let him stay Half an hour Then give oil or lard to physic him Excellent for Rheumatic Pains Take Stone Brimstone reduced to a fine powder and as much molasses or honey as is necessary To make aparte apply to the afflicted part a little Turpentine may be added Winter Blacking 3/4 pint Couriers Oil 1/2 lb Tallow 1/2 " Barberry Tallow 1/2 " Bees Wax a little Lamp Black melt them Slowly Together For the Gravel Two or three Tea Spoonfulls of Magnesia be taken in alittle warm water, two or three times a day Bad Legs Apply [illegible] of Charcoal & water reduced to afine powder
