Whitney Rodgers Excellent for strains and Bruises in Bullocks or Horses. Take Spirit of [illegible] with Lime 2 Ounces, Oil of olives 4 ounces, spirits of Turpentine and [illegible] Spirits of Wine of each 4 ounces. Mix and keep them in a bottle for use. To be rubbed in once or twice a day. They may be [illegible] by first [illegible] it with the following lotion. Take cammomile [illegible] for burns. [illegible] Lite Poppy heads [illegible] in [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] half a pound. Marshmallow roots and elder leaves [bruised?] of each on handfull rosemary one handfull boil them in 2 gallons of [illegible]. [illegible] the part affected two or three times a day with a hot flannel well [illegible] out of the a [bone?][formation?]. Another for the same more powerfull. Take [illegible] 4 ounces spirit of [illegible] [illegible] with lime and 2 ounces [illegible] in powder 2 drams. Mix and keep them in a bottle for use. (These are powerfull) They must be rubbed on the part once or twice a day. And if fererish symptoms should appear the body must be kept open bu giving [illegible] salts one pound [illegible] on in powder 2 ounces. Treacle 4 ounces. Put all the ingredients in a pitcher Pour 3 pints of boiling water on them and when cold enough give it for a dose. Take Notice. After the pain is gone there frequently remains a [illegible] to [illegible] which the following plasters should be applied. Take black - [illegible] half opened. White -[pitch?] 4 ounces compound [Lithonrge?] and strenghtening plaster of each 2 ounces. Melt over a small fire. [Cummin?] seeds (fresh powdered of each) ounce stir them well together and when [illegible] milk warm apply it with a spatula all over the afflicted part. If wool be stuck to it it may stay untill it falls off of itself. But if covered with flannel but the [stiches?] in about a month and let it stay untill it falls off. For Rhumatism in Cattle. Take neat foot oil [illegible] ounces spirit of Turpentine and spirit of [Tab ammonic?] with Lime of each 4 ounces [illegible] spirit of wine 6 ounces oil of [illegible] and tincture of opium (Laudanum) of the affected part once or twice a day. The following drink may be given at the same time. Take [gum?]- [illegible] and [peruvian?] bark in powder of each one ounce. Camphor two Drams powdered with [illegible] drops of spirts of Wine. Treacle 4 ounces to be given in a quart of ale. Take notice, if the ale be untill [illegible] milk [illegible] on the time of giving it repeat it every other day for several times. If any fever attends keep the [bowels?] open as above. To Dry away a cows milk. Alum in fine powder 6 ounces Red wine tarter in poweder half a pound. [illegible] [illegible] in powder 2 ounces. Trecael 4 tablespoonsfull. Mix [illegible] them in a pitcher and pour a quart of boiling water upon it. Then add a pint of good vinegar and give it when [illegible] is given. It will need repeating. An Ointment for sore teat. Take Elder ointment 6 ounces Bees wax 2 ounces. Melt them together and then add sugar of lead one ounce. Alum in powder 2 ounes. Mix and stir them till [nealry?] [cold?] Annoint with this after Milking morning and evening. If the flies are very troublesome add an ounce of [illegible] in powder to the above.
