Recipe for Lip Salve. Take 2 oz of Virgin's wax, 2 oz Hog's Lard 1/2 oz Spermacitz, 1 oz of oil of sweet almonds, 2 drachms of Balsam of Pern, 2 drs of Alkand root, cut small 6 new raisins shred fine, & a little fine sugar; simmer them all together a short time, then strain it off into small pots. - This is the finest Lip Salve in the World. For the Rheumatism. 3 oz of Hartshorn oil, & 3 oz of Palm oil mixed well together, & rub the part affected. - A Liquor for Washing. 2 Pennyworth of Pearl ash, & 3 pennyworth of amonia. - 1851. -
