-11- There had been a concern resting on my mind more than twenty years, to visit in Gospel love Great Britain and some of the dominions belonging thereunto; and other parts of Europe. In the year 1911 I obtained a minute from North Carolina yearly meeting for religious service in Europe. On the 20th day of the fifth month, 1912, I left my home for that long and tedious journey. I went to Philadelphia as some of my clothing was there; and met Ida R. Chamness and daughter there on their way to Norway, Ida's native land. Mary W. Stokes from Philadelphia joined us. Ida being a minister of the Gospel. We left Philadelphia that same afternoon for New York, near 6 o'clock. We went on board that large ship, Mauratania. And I never felt so tired in all my life, as I was that night: being so hurried in Philadelphia and had no breakfast, nor dinner. And the weather was warm. We were shown our rooms, and had supper. The next morning we were out of sight of land. The sea was calm. I lost a few meals on account of being seasick. We sat down on our chairs on deck and saw nothing but sky and water for six days. We had good accomadations. We then saw the beautiful scenery of the land Wales;
